Unforgiving or Too Forgiving: Reaction to reactions of Chris Brown’s Grammy Performance

We all know the expression “beating a dead horse”, well I think when it comes to Chris Brown and his drama with Rihanna, that dead horse has been beaten to the ground. After Chris Brown allegedly assaulted Rihanna in 2009, his career took a fast deep plummet. Now, almost 4 years later, Chris Brown seems to be starting to come back on the music scene with a vengeance. Brown recently performed at the 54^th Annual Grammys where he also accepted a Grammy for ‘Best R&B album’ for his latest album “F.A.M.E”. The reactions from his performance were, to say the least, disturbing, on two opposite extremes of the spectrum. A list on buzzfeed.com showed the 25 most upsetting reactions to Chris Brown’s performance from fans. Some of the bizarre reactions included: “Call me crazy buttttttttt I would let Chris Brown beat me up anyyyy day”, “Not gonna lie.. I think I’d let Chris Brown beat me #sosexy #lovehim #akwardtweet #dontevencare “, “I’d let Chris Brown beat me up anytime ;) #womanbeater”, and “Chris Brown.. Please beat me ;)”. Some celebrities also took to twitter to share their not-so-appreciative reactions. Miranda Lambert, country singer, tweeted multiple times about her feelings of Chris Brown, “How dang long did they give Nicki Minaj to do whatever that was? Strange. And Chris Brown twice? I don’t get it. He beat on a girl…”, “Not cool that we act like that didn’t happen. He needs to listen to Gunpowder and lead and be put back in his place. Not at the Grammys.” Lambert tweeted. Reality star Jack Osbourne also tweeted, “Chris Brown . . . people don’t forget! #chrisbrownbeatswomen”. Whoa people, what’s going on here?  It seems to me that people can’t seem to find a happy medium. No, girls should not be begging for a man to beat them, but people should also not still be condemning him for what he admitted was a mistake and what he paid the consequences for.  Both types of people represent a horrible trait in society. I personally commend Chris Brown for being able to make a comeback and regain the respect of many people. I've been a big Chris Brown fan before AND after the incident, I didn't stop listening to his music because we're all human, and human's make mistakes. So i'm not going to be the one casting the first stone at him. And just because I feel that way doesn't mean I accept or approve of what he did. Yes, beating women is wrong no matter what they did, nothing is going to change my mind about that. But I think people people are too high up on their horses to realize that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so all the hate can stop. I mean seriously, how is wishing someone to die (Yeah I mean you all you #RIPChrisBrown tweeters), any better than what he did? I really think people should stop giving him such a hard time, all he wants is to move past the incident and move on with his life.  So tell me America: are we decent beings enough to let him do that?

Living Violet and One Direction

Hello wonderful people! I am in an extremely good mood today (oh the wonders a nap can do for a person!) and I decided I should finally blog about two things I've grown pretty fond of over the past few weeks. The first thing, is the band One Direction, now, I've liked 1D for a few months now, but lately I've been listening to their music even more and decided it was worth blogging about. Their album "Up All Night" which will be released in March in the USA, is probably the best thing to happen since the internet. Okay, okay I know its a bit of an exaggeration, but it's a great album nonetheless. I've heard the entire album (no not pirated I just got it from iTunes UK) and I've been listening to it non-stop. There's something about their music that is a breath of fresh air. I would say my top three songs on it are "One Thing", "Gotta Be You", and "Same Mistakes". "One Thing" is a pretty upbeat dance song that makes me smile every time (see -> :-D). Now "Gotta Be You" and "Same Mistakes" are on the other side of the spectrum, they are slow tempo, soulful, and dare I say "sad" songs about relationships that aren't going too well. Harry Styles, one of the vocalist and my favorite from the band, has vocal skills that blow me out of the water every time I listen to him! As a whole, I would give the album 5 stars  it's fun, upbeat, the vocal skills as a whole are great, the songs are really catchy, and I think these boys have a long successful future ahead of them.

And now, the second thing I fell in love with this past week is the book Living Violet by Jaime Reed, it is the first book of "The Cambion Chronicles" which was released January 1st, 2012. I stumbled upon this book playing around on my Nook and it was 2.99 so I figured I'd give it a shot. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the book as much as I did, I literally read through it in a day. Without giving a way too much, the book is basically about a girl, Samara, who wants to uncover her mysterious coworker, Caleb. All the while she falls in love with him and discovers he has a dangerous little secret. It's a great young adult supernatural, for anyone who liked Twilight I guarantee you will love this book, the only issue I had with it was that it ended haha. Now I'm (im)patiently waiting for part two of the series to come out....all the way....in June. -Sigh-. BUT good things come to those who wait right? Anyway check out the book, I have a feeling this one is going to become quite popular.

Oh poor blog I have neglected thee so badly haha. I've probably gotten a total of 16 hours of sleep all week. Not much fun. BUT my grades are AWEEESSSOOOOMMME now, well...at least to me they are. Considering how hard things were for me at first i'm pretty proud of myself. The other reason I haven't been blogging much is because I've been working on my portfolio because I'm applying for a few scholarships and summer journalism programs. Really cool stuff going on with that. Anyways I did a photoshoot yesterday (yes these photos are from mid winter) and they turned out gorgeous! So i'll share a few, and i'll blog about interesting stuff tomorrow.

So this little blog is a rant about how much I LOVE the movie Anastasia! Seriously, it's one of the greatest movies ever. The songs, are awesome, the story, the humor, DEMETRI! Resolutions are made to be broken

First and foremost HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! I had a pretty AWESOME New Years Eve, I hope everyone else had one too. :) Okay so the topic of this blog is New Years Resolutions. Now when you hear that term do you or do you not assume that who ever said it is just going to end up breaking that resolution eventually? You do right? Let's face it New Year Resolutions are made to be broken. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying you can't change, because you definitely can! All i'm saying is, don't make promises you can't keep. It's a new year: 2012! Start the year off right, don't just say "I'm going to lose weight!", "I'm going to be a happier person" and all the same old cliche New Year Resolutions. This year, try having a goal. My goal, is to be a better friend, love more, stop getting angry over stupid things, and most importantly, grow closer to God than I was last year. I feel like I have been dropping the ball, for lack of a better term, in my relationships with people. Some relationships, I need to let go of. Too much unnecessary drama. This year, i'm going to find out who my real friends are, and hold onto them for dear life. And to all of those who are saying "I'm not changing for anyone!" all I have to say is this: I know for a fact that you made mistakes in 2011, and if you say you aren't going to change, that means you learned nothing from your mistakes, and will only be doomed to make them again. So let's stop making "New Year Resolutions", and let's actually try to start changing. Because if you aren't moving forward, you'll never get anything accomplished in life.

Will the Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?

Guess who's back? Back again? Shady's back. Tell a friend! I'm back guys! I've been semi-sorta-kinda-fully neglecting my poor blog, but I promise to get better when the new year starts. Ah! NEW YEAR?!? Where has my year gone??? I can't believe this year is over. Hmm...what are some of the highlights of this year? Well I drove my first car this year, turned 16, stayed out past 12am, went to my first Prom <3, drove around with my girls til almost 1am looking for a redbox, hung out with a million people at McDonald's eating french fries and ice cream at 12am, ice skated--aka crawled along the wall--for the first time, hung out downtown until it got dark, stood in line for hours to see Abduction, stood in line even longer to see Breaking Dawn, bawled my eyes out over Taylor Lautner, interviewed Hot Chelle Rae, Diggy Simmons, and the Twilight cast, went to my first rock concert, met All Star Weekend, Cody Simpson, and Greyson Chance, fell in love with photography, got my first summer job, met Christina Perri who became my new female role model, became even more Bieber obsessed, fell in love with a lovely singer known as Andrew Allen, talked on the phone with Demi Lovato, lost best friends, made new ones, and finally had the courage to sing on stage on front of a crowd. Yep...its been one fulfilling year. Soon i'll be in 12th grade and then going off to college....college....wow. I'm so curious to see what God is going to do with my life in 2012. I know it's going to be great.

10 Days 'Til Christmas!

Ohhhhhh yeahhhh!!!!! 10 days until Christmas!!!!! I'm super excited, not so much for gifts but just for the time to relax and enjoy the holiday spirit yanno? Anyways...I wasn't originally going to blog today but a few things happened that i thought were "blog-able". First of all i sang for the very first time on stage this past Sunday and it was AWESOME it felt really good. Secondly, I've been doing MUCH better in school my Trig and AP World grades have gone up tremendously which means more time for my blog! (yay!) Also today a boy on the train randomly came up to me and gave me a candy cane...it was so sweet...no seriously that candy cane was delicious hahaha. The other really exciting thing is that I've done enough photo shoots to officially start my portfolio which is super exciting! Well that's pretty much all that happened since my last post but it's all so exciting to me ^_^!
